    Stolen vehicle crashes into Winnipeg taxi

    A Winnipeg taxi driver and a passenger are in hospital after a crash with a stolen vehicle.

    The crash happened at the intersection of Academy Road and Kenaston Boulevard at about 12:30 a.m. Friday.

    According to police, the stolen Buick LeSabre went through a red light and slammed into the cab, causing the taxi to flip over and knock down traffic lights.

    The driver of the stolen vehicle ran from the scene and the police helicopter Air-1 was brought in to search the area with a spotlight.

    No arrests have yet been made.

    The 43-year-old taxi driver and 23-year-old passenger, both men, are in stable condition.

    Police said the Buick was stolen on Thursday from the area of Roblin Boulevard and Dale Boulevard.
