Possible tornado damages buildings north of Calgary

A handful of residents near Didsbury, Alta., are surveying damage after a possible tornado touched down just north of the town Tuesday afternoon.

RCMP in Alberta say the strong winds damaged a few rural buildings around 2 p.m. about 12 kilometres northwest of Didsbury.

An Environment Canada official told CBC News it would be “premature” to call the severe weather a tornado, but say they are looking into what happened.

There are no injuries, although there are reports some cattle were injured in the storm.

Didsbury is about 85 kilometres north of Calgary.
