T-shirts mocking Rob Ford sold to help troubled youth

The t-shirts have messages like "Mayors gone wild" and "Toronto - Where the wild things are."

T-shirts mocking Toronto mayor Rob Ford are being sold to help the iHuman Youth Society, an Edmonton agency that helps troubled teens.

The shirts bear messages like “Mayors Gone Wild” and “Toronto Zoo” with a picture of Ford underneath are the creation of artist Steven Csorba.

“I just felt uncomfortable with it, but yet at the same time i felt drawn to it in terms of investigating who the man was,” Csorba said.

Csorba spent time researching Ford in attempt to understand who he is. The bright colourful designs make fun of the controversial mayor.

But Csorba believes they also send a serious message.

“No one really asks the question, why? Why is he behaving this way, and given all of his obvious challenges as a human being, how come no one is helping him?”

Money from the sale of the t-shirts will go to iHuman. Executive Director Catherine Broomfield says Csorba’s designs are creative and challenging.

Broomfield agrees that it can seem ironic to use the sale of Ford t-shirts to help youth who struggle with addictions.

“I hope that Rob Ford finds some place like iHuman and in the absence of that, at least this project and the money from this project is going to help our youth get and continue to get the support that they need.”

The t-shirts cost $50 each.
