Toronto man found dead in pond near Peterborough

A Toronto man was found unresponsive in a rural pond by his wife Saturday and was later pronounced dead at the scene roughly 22 kilometres southwest of Peterborough, Ont.

The Scarborough couple owned property that included a trailer and a large pond on Syer Line, the OPP said in a news release. The 75-year-old man was putting up "No Trespassing" signs in Cavan-Monaghan before the incident, according to his wife.

Kai-Din Lee's wife found him unresponsive Saturday just after 4 p.m. ET in a pond on the site. Resuscitation efforts could not revive the man and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body will undergo a post-mortem examination to identify the cause of death. Police continue to look into the matter.
