US boy suspended for sexual harassment after calling teaching 'cute'

London, Dec 5 (ANI): A nine-year-old boy in the US was suspended by his school, when he told a friend that he thought his teacher was 'cute'.

Fourth grader Emanyea Lockett was accused of 'sexual harassment', after a substitute teacher at School overheard the remark, told the principal, who then suspended the boy for two days.

"I was talking to my friend and I said Miss Taylor was cute," the Daily Mail quoted Emanyea as telling local WSOC news.

"That's all I said," he said.

Meanwhile, Emanyea's mother, Chiquita Lockett, thinks that the punishment meted out to her son is far more severe than the crime.

"It's not like he went up to the woman and tried to grab her in a sexual way,"

"Why would he be suspended for two days?" she said. (ANI)

Now that would be inappropriate, and what do you say to that, without getting fired.

You sure that really happened, Charles? I mean, are you
sure you didn't just dream it? Ripping story, nonetheless.
Please, tell us more tales about your imaginary girlfriend.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I am a school principal and this just would never happen in my school district. I think there is more to this than we are being told!

How can it be sexual harassment? He said she was cute,he didn't say she was sexy. Both this teacher and this principal should be suspended for a week without pay. Then maybe the both of them will act thier age.

He didn't say anything to her - he said it to a friend and someone was eavesdropping.

Wow..that is just too stupid for words....The teacher and anyone else responsible for this child's suspension should be canned. I wouldn't want someone who was that big of an idiot teaching my child.

He wasn't really suspended for calling a teacher "cute".

They used to burn witches on the accusation of a child.

If it appeals to our anger, we throw out all rational thinking and just believe any nonsense. It seemed obvious to me a boy is not completely honest with his mother on the details of his suspension. An outrageous story suggests the boy is just too young to create a good lie.

A simple search shows the school has a very different story, full of foul language and sexual references. From the complaints of this boy's teacher's and co-students, he could teach a sailor a few new words.

cannot agree with you more !!! The whole bunch of them should lose their jobs over stupid nonsense. Again wtf is wrong with people in the world today?
      • Blah 5 months ago
I understand we want to be enraged, so my comments will be pushed down... but the boy's story is clearly not believable. A man lost his job over our inability to think rationally.

To protect the child, the Principal cannot comment on what really happened. But if you read the letter to the mother, you can see the boy was suspended for repeated profanity, which is far more believable than the 9-year-old's version.

      I'd say we are getting a little bit crazy now . . . .

True. Paranoia is the new culture in the USA today. I`m glad I don`t see much of that in Japan.

I'm a retired teacher. If any of my pupils had called me cute, I would have hugged them! Thank God, I don't live in the US where paranoia is becoming a way of life.

What!? Give me a break, man. Who is the stupid administrator. This is no way to run a school. What happened to "sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me". This school is a joke!!!

I think the laws is stepping on too many toes and it should be changed. The child didn't do anything wrong. What is see wrong is the bullying, the cell swapping and FB password exchanges going on with today's tweens! There is no more disciplining in today's society and talking is not helping.

The boy has learned an important life lesson here that many men have difficulty with. And its all thanks to the suspension. The lesson is: Yes, son, she is cute. But she might also be a complete bitc#! In this case, she certainly is!

Anyway, there are too many crazy people in America, and that is why I left. I keep telling you Canadians to watch it, and don't follow America with regards to sex and relationship mores, but so many of you don't listen. Boy is 9 years old and thinks the teacher is cute. Its normal and natural. But you guys keep following America and in 15 years, you too will have 9 year old boys suspending for remarking that teach is cute.

What an over reaction --the teacher should be off the sub list if that paranoid and the principal should know better!

I hope he makes things right when he returns to school, and tells her, "I'm sorry, I was wrong for saying that. You are not cute at all."

Good Gawd~ how petty can a woman get? How foolish can a principle get? It's a kid with an opinion on the woman's aesthetics, and they suspend him? IT'S A NOTHING, IT SHOULDN'T EVEN HAVE GONE TO THE PRINCIPLE! The woman (I mean the female) shouldn't be working with children at all.

Someone doesn't know how to take a compliment. He's nine years old...GET OVER IT!
    • Gena  •  5 months ago
Unbelievable. Would they have suspended him if he said she was a cow? That is not sexual harrassment.

Welcome to feminist America - where what could once be considered mild flattery is now a class A felony.
    • Cassandra  •  5 months ago
Seriously!!! School systems look a blind eye half the time with bullying and dont EVEN suspend the bullies. But yet an innocent 9 year old has a crush on his teacher and he gets suspended for calling her cute!!!! Shame on the principal and substitute teacher!!
    • Mufasa  •  5 months ago
I've been reading a lot of ridiculous things happening in our world today, but this one made me laugh out loud. A 9 yr old child says to his friend that he thinks his teacher is cute and gets called out for sexual harassment, and suspended at that. LOL. OMG. What is our world coming to?

      HIGH SCHOOL -- 1957 vs. 2010

      Scenario 1:
Jack goes quail hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck's gun rack.
1957 - Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.
2010 - School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

      Scenario 2:
Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.
1957 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies.
2010 - Police called and SWAT team arrives -- they arrest both Johnny and Mark. They are both charged with assault and both expelled even though Johnny started it .

      Scenario 3:
Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students.
1957 - Jeffrey sent to the Principal's office and given a good paddling by the Principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again.
2010 - Jeffrey is given huge doses of Ritalin. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD. The family gets extra money (SSI) from the government because Jeffrey has a disability.

      Scenario 4:
Billy breaks a window in his neighbor's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt.
1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman.
2010 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse, Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy's sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has an affair with the psychologist.

      Scenario 5:

1957 - Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock .
2010 - The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.

1957 - Pedro goes to summer school, passes English and goes to college.
2010 - Pedro's cause is taken up by state. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against the state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum. Pedro is given his diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he cannot speak English.

      Scenario 7:
Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the Fourth of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed.
      1957 - Ants die.
2010 - ATF, Homeland Security and the FBI are all called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The FBI investigates his parents - and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated. Johnny's dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

      Scenario 8:
Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.
1957 – In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.
2010 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy.

Thinking that someone is cute is sexual? Telling your friend constitutes harassment? A truly great example of the astonishingly stupidity of the feminist version of political correctness.
    • JeffreyK  •  5 months ago
This infant was clearly a sexual predator hoping to do unspeakable acts to the helpless teacher. My guess is he planned on using his hulking 3 foot tall, 60 pound frame to pin her down, and whisper dispicable things in her ear like "I hope you like my macaroni picture I made in art class!". This infant, of whom probably doesn't even comprehend what sex is, should be locked up in a juevenille detention center for his horrible crime. Or on second thought, maybe the teacher should be locked in an insane asylum for being a complete and utter moron (whichever college she got her teaching degree from should be ashamed).

Was it money? Probably not. ...

VIENNA (Reuters) - Iran has significantly stepped up its output of low-enriched uranium and total production in the last five years would be enough for at least five nuclear weapons if refined much further, a U.S. security institute said.
