Vacancy Hall, a space for artists and designers, opens in Mercer Building

The Mercer Warehouse has become an incubator for small business thanks to the presence of Startup Edmonton on the top floor.

Now the basement of the heritage building will play a similar role. The space has been renovated and divided into eight studios for designers and artists.

The spaces can be rented month-to-month so budding entrepreneurs don’t need to put a lot of cash up front when they are starting their business.

Edmonton AM host Mark Connolly spoke to Devin Pope and Kyle Closen about the new Vacancy Hall project.

Pope is the property manager of the Mercer Warehous. Closen is one of the first tenants with his business Clo's Custom Fine Leather Goods.
