You can get prescription glasses online for between $15 - $100 that are just as good as anything you'll get at a store. My last two pairs of glasses came to a total of over $700. My girlfriends last two pairs of prescription glasses, total of $40. They are sturdy, stylish and the prescription came out perfectly.
If you want these deals, go online. We've dealt with both Clearly Contacts and Firmoo, beats Vogue by a mile!

If you want glasses, go to the Asian malls. You don't see Asians in the Big Brand eyewear stores.
We've bought from Clearly Contacts for years, and love it. We have returned glasses, with an additional discount on the new pair. I have Calvin Klein readers for $29.00 Now, they are getting more popular, and more expensive.

so will this article open doors to have the cost of eyewear reflect the true value - i cannot afford to buy this item at the current rates - and if you want to replace the lens it costs more than buying the frames and lens new..time to revolt on this big ticket overpriced commodity.

    What a rip off!

To add insult to injury, its not just the frames one gets ripped off on, the extra moola for scratch resistance protective coating (cryzoral?) I can buy off the shelf sunglasses with better frames and have always thought why and how can they get away with this? I also do not trust eye exams given by places that sell frames and lenses.

I have bought glasses and contact lenses from "Clearly Contacts" for the last 10 years, no complaints here. I chose bifocals for glasses as I only use them for getting around at night, I checked different local stores and they quoted me between $900-$1000, I got them from "Clearly Contacts" for $137, they even have their website to that you can use your picture and try on all the frames you want.

Another tale of how we Canadiens get ripped off. Time will pass and nothing will be done. We don't bitch enough.

My lenses cost over 300 dollars + the frames, last pair I bought was three years ago, they finally fell apart early last year, no way I can afford to keep up with that just to see clearly

Not a great surprise to me. The last pair of (bifocal) glasses I purchased cost me $500, which is not a huge price tag according to this article? However, if I had purchased single vision lenses, the total cost would have been only $149 plus tax - frames, anti-scratch and UV coating included. $350 for bifocals?

I know that other people feel comfortable purchasing glasses and contacts via Clearly Contacts - I'm a little hesitant because I prefer to have any adjustments to my frames done in person by a professional optician, rather than attempting anything on my own. As another reader mentioned, at least my insurance company pays $250, which is better than nothing.

I guess, then, you're darned if you do and darned if you don't.

2 years ago it cost me $520 for one pair of glasses. no scratch resistence and no clip on sun glasses included. the frames were 1/2 price and the lenses cost me $300. i know it's a rip-off but what can you do when the law allows companies to rip off consumers. the good thing is that my company covers me for $200. i need a new pair and i'm at a loss about where i should go.

    Seems like a natural fit.
