Disabled Couple Evicted From Their Irish Home

A disabled Irish couple said they were treated like “animals” when they were evicted from their home on Wednesday, August 26. Video and images taken by friends and supporters of the family show John Lloyd, who is blind, and wife Fiona, who is disabled, being evicted from their home in their pajamas along with their 10-year-old son.

The couple fell behind on their mortgage repayments after they doubled, they said. A spokesperson for the Meath Land League, a group representing homeowners in arrears told The Irish Sun, “The arrears on this property are not enormous and the National Land League has seen the numerous documents pertaining to the case.”

“The homeowners did all in their power to negotiate with a bank who would not compromise. They were merciless,” he claimed.
