Oscar Short Films – The St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival can help you win your office Oscar pool. They're presenting a screening of all the short films nominated for Academy Awards this year. 7 p.m. at The Hall for the animated films and 9 p.m. for the live action films.

Lively Theatre — Tickle My Bedroom Fish is an original comedy by Victoria Wells-Smith. Playing at the Barbara Barrett Theatre, February 10-15. Show times are 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

NSO Masterworks — Main Squeeze featuring the amazing Alexander Sevastian on the accordion. Arts and Culture Centre, 8 p.m.

Friday Live Music Downtown

- The Rockhouse – Join NDP MP Charlie Angus, Chris Kirby, Jody Richardson and others. 9 p.m.

Chocolate and Pottery — Clay artist Alexis Templeton is selling imported chocolate and guest artist Susan Lee Stephen is making pots in the studio this weekend. Noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The projects are short and geared more for adults than kids. Chocolate tasting is ongoing.

The Finer Things — Shakespeare by the Sea Festival invites you to indulge in your love of wine (inspired by Steve Delaney and Shakespeare’s Sonnets) at the Signal Hill Interpretation Centre's Tattoo Annex, overlooking St. John's Harbour. Starts at 8 p.m.

Sweetheart Skate at the Loop — Bring your sweetheart for a skate to Valentine's Day themed music. Bring your camera for a souvenir snap in the Valentine's themed photo booth. Starts 7 p.m.
