Webcam captures 100 sea turtles hatching

A 'turtle webcam' in the Florida Keys has captured the hatching of about 100 loggerhead sea turtles.

The camera, which uses infrared lighting, recorded the baby turtles coming out of a hole and heading towards the Atlantic Ocean.

Loggerhead, green, leatherback, hawksbill and Kemp's Ridley sea turtles nest on Florida beaches, and inhabit Florida and Keys waters. All five species are either threatened or endangered.

The webcam was approved by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.
