Winnipeg police on lookout for man who grabbed 12-year-old girl

Man claiming to be a repair person trying to enter Winnipeg homes, say police

Winnipeg police are on the lookout for a man who chased and grabbed a 12-year-old girl in Winnipeg's North End.

Police were called to the area of Dufferin Avenue and Robinson Street at 8:30 p.m. Thursday to investigate reports of a suspicious male in the area.

A girl in the area was playing with friends when she saw a man in pickup truck watching her. Police said the girl took off and the man chased her on foot.

There was a brief struggle, but the girl was able to get away unscathed. The man got into his truck and drove away.

Police said the man is about 30 years old, tall with an average build and has brown facial hair. He was wearing dark pants, a brown jacket, a grey hat and had a ring on his pinkie finger.

The pickup truck is believed to be red with a grey/white stripe running down the side. Police said the truck looked dirty and had a tinted rear window.
