Winnipeg Sierra Leone community sells shirts to help fight Ebola

Winnipeg's Sierra Leone community continues to help in the fight against Ebola, and on Friday that help took the form of a fundraiser and by selling t-shirts.

The community raised $10,000 through its "Fight Ebola" t-shirt sales and a fundraiser held at Canad Inns Windsor Park Friday night.

Allieu Sesay, president of the Sierra Leone National Association of Manitoba, said many of the people at the Friday night event have had family and friends in West Africa infected with the deadly virus.

"Close relatives and family friends have been affected," said Sesay. "We've registered a couple deaths. It's really devastating as I'm talking to you."

All the proceeds from the t-shirt sales and fundraiser are going to the Red Cross to help with Ebola relief efforts.
