A woman gave birth on a Toronto-area highway on Sunday morning after failing to reach the hospital before her baby arrived.
Ontario Provincial Police say they were alerted that a baby was being born on Highway 400 near Highway 407, just after 4:30 a.m. ET.
When police arrived at the scene, the baby had already been born. The mother had been spending the weekend with friends before she ended up going into labour unexpectedly.
The mother and her newborn were transported by ambulance to Humber River Regional Hospital and are said to be doing fine.
