WoodGreen community services confirms strike begins Thursday Oct. 9

WoodGreen Community Services — which provides care to children, seniors and those with disabilities — confirmed strike action would begin Oct. 9.

"As of 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 8, WoodGreen Community Services has been informed that strike action will begin on October 9," the group said on their website.

"Contingency plans are in place. Our priority will be to serve our most vulnerable clients."

Among its services:

- Seven childcare centres where more than 700 children are enrolled.

- Help to adults living with a range of mental health challenges.

- Social and recreational groups, supportive counselling.

- Senior adult day programs, meal programs and transportation to medical appointments

- More than 1,000 people live in WoodGreen’s 700 affordable housing units
