Social Media Superstar winner: Justin Bieber

It comes as little surprise that Canadian heartthrob Justin Bieber won the Yahoo! Canada Award as Social Media Superstar.

The Stratford, Ont. pop singer used YouTube and Twitter to make his name before he was famous, and his popularity has grown with every new view upload, tweet or status update since!

At more than 26 million Twitter followers and counting, Bieber interacts with fans with tweets like, "BE GREAT!", "HARD WORK DEDICATION! #rehearsal" and "if you are with me I’m never letting you go. we are in this for the long run. i love you all. #BELIEVE that! #Beliebers.".

As our readers pointed out, Bieber also uses his vast follower base for social good.

"I know there are a lot of folks that are not Beliebers, but our boy from Stratford is a wonderful philanthropist. Not only was he responsible for tens of thousands of his followers signing organ donation cards, he was late for a Christmas singing gig in Toronto because he was skating with the Maple Leafs and children from the Make A Wish Foundation. He also donated $500,000 to the Foundation. That is one classy young man."
