Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the driver of vehicle believed to be involved in a collision that left one man dead and another in hospital in Brampton Saturday morning.

A 25-year-old man was killed after he lost his control of a Honda Civic while driving on Cottrelle Boulevard around 2:25 a.m. ET. The car slammed into a concrete pole near the intersection of Thorndale Road and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 20-year-old passenger was taken to a downtown trauma centre with non-life threatening injuries after being freed from the wreckage by firefighters.

Saturday afternoon, police said they believe the driver of a second vehicle involved in the incident fled the scene. Investigators are appealing to any witnesses or anyone who might be able to help identify the second vehicle and its driver.
