1 dead, 1 injured in Raleigh shooting
One man is dead and another man was injured in a shooting early Monday morning, Raleigh police said.
Police were called to the 3400 block of White Sock Lane at 1:36 a.m., according to a news release. They found one injured man, who later died at the hospital. The other man was taken to the hospital by a private car with non-life-threatening injuries. Neither victim’s name was released.
Marquette Lamont Sykes, 24, was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill and possession of a firearm by a felon, with additional charges possible, police said.
According to the arrest warrant, Sykes, of Roanoke Rapids, illegally had a .223-caliber rifle at the time of the shooting.
Sykes is being held without bail at the Wake County Detention Center, court records show.
