1 dead, 2 in life-threatening condition after shooting in northeast Calgary
One person is dead and two others are in life-threatening condition after a shooting in northeast Calgary Saturday afternoon.
Shortly after 3 p.m., emergency services and police responded to reports of gunshots in the 100 block of Martindale Boulevard, according to police.
One man was found dead at the scene with what appeared to be gunshot wounds, according to a Calgary Police Service news release issued Saturday evening.
Two other victims with gunshot wounds were transported to hospital in life-threatening condition.
On Sunday, police said they now believe the shooting was targeted.
No arrests have been made, but police are asking for the public's help to locate a vehicle believed to be linked to the shooting. CCTV footage from the area captured images of the vehicle.
The public are being asked not to approach the vehicle if it's located as the occupants may be armed.
Further details about the deceased victim will be released once an autopsy has been conducted and next of kin has been notified. The autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.
Calgary resident Rabi Singh said he and his family regularly go to the Sikh temple near where the shooting occurred. Singh, who's lived in Calgary since 2010, said he's surprised to see violent events like Saturday's shooting happen in his city.
"When I heard the news, we [got] scared a little bit because it happened [in] front of the temple, and my kids play every week here," Singh said.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident, including anyone who might have dash cam footage or CCTV in the area where the incident occurred, to contact them at 403-266-1234.
