One man is dead after a confrontation turned fatal in a southeast Calgary community on Friday night.
Police responded to a disturbance at approximately 9:30 p.m. after receiving a call from an upstairs tenant of a residence in the 2500 block of Ninth Avenue S.E.
"We heard reports of two males fighting," said Det. Ben Lawson with Calgary police. "Upon arrival, we confirmed one male to be deceased."
The deceased male was in his 40s, police said, while the other individual — a 39-year-old man — was taken into custody.
No information is available surrounding the individuals involved or what led to the confrontation.
"Homicide is currently investigating," Lawson said.
Police are unlikely to release any further details until investigations conclude, including the results of an autopsy.
Lawson said the death is currently deemed suspicious.
