1 man dead, another in police custody after Pickering stabbing

A man has died and a another male is under arrest after a stabbing in Pickering Friday, Durham Regional Police say.

Police said they responded to a stabbing at a home in the area of Rosebank Road and Sheppard Avenue at 7:12 p.m.

Officers found a 56-year-old man with multiple stab wound. He was rushed to a trauma centre where he was pronounced dead.

Duty Insp. Sean Sitaram said one male has been taken into custody. There is no threat to public safety, police said.

Police would not comment on the relationship between the two.

The homicide unit is taking over the investigation.
