1 man injured in daytime shooting in South Surrey

Mountie charged with improper storage of a firearm after police watchdog investigation

Surrey RCMP say one man was taken to hospital after a daytime shooting in South Surrey on Thursday.

Police say they received multiple calls of shots fired at 3:30 p.m. at 152 Street and 32 Avenue.

Upon arrival, police discovered a male victim had fled on foot from the scene of the shooting.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Buildings, vehicles hit by bullets

No one else was injured, but officers found a commercial building, a residential building and a vehicle were all struck by bullets.

"This incident once again demonstrates the lack of respect and concern that people engaged in this behaviour have for the community," said Surrey RCMP Staff Sgt. Dale Carr in a statement.

RCMP said the victim appears to have been targeted and is known to police for his involvement in criminal behaviour.

It's unknown if any arrests have been made.
