The New #1 Movie on Netflix Is a Must-Watch for Families

If you’re already running out of streaming options the entire family can enjoy, you’re in luck.

Over the Moon premiered on Netflix less than one week ago, and it’s already landed the number one spot on the streaming service’s list of most watched movies. (It’s currently ranked ahead of Rebecca, Hubie Halloween, Yes, God, Yes, Paranormal and Tremors: Shrieker Island.)

The movie tells the story of a young dreamer named Fei Fei, who is mesmerized by the legend of the moon goddess, Chang’e. Inspired by memories of her late mother, she builds a rocket to the moon in an attempt to prove the folklore is true.

Oh, and did we mention it’s a musical? This means that after one viewing, the lyrics to “Mooncakes” are bound to get stuck in your head. (You’ve been warned.)

Over the Moon features an all-star voiceover cast, including Cathy Ang (Fei Fei), Phillipa Soo (Chang’e), Sandra Oh (Mrs. Zhong), Ken Jeong (Gobi), Kimiko Glenn (Auntie Mei), John Cho (Ba Ba), Ruthie Ann Miles (Ma Ma), Margaret Cho (Auntie Ling), Irene Tsu (Grandma) and Robert G. Chiu (Chin).

The movie was directed by Glen Keane (Tarzan, Pocahontas). While Steven Price (Gravity, Our Planet) composed the music, Audrey Wells (Under the Tuscan Sun) and Jennifer Yee McDevitt (He’s Just Not that Into You) wrote the screenplay. The movie was produced by Pearl Studio, Netflix Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks.

Who’s ready for blast off? *Slowly raises hand*
