1 person dead following crash early Tuesday, SC Highway Patrol says

One person was killed in a crash Tuesday morning, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

At about 5:20 a.m., the driver of a 2006 Ford Focus was traveling south on Old Barnwell Road near Candlewood Road, which is about six miles east of Aiken, Sgt. Tyler Tidwell of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

The driver, who has not yet been identified, traveled off the road and struck a tree, and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The deceased was the only person in the car and no other vehicles were involved.
