1 man killed in car crash at Highway 22 and Trans-Canada
One man is dead after a two-car collision on Monday afternoon on Highway 22 just south of the Trans-Canada Highway.
Paramedics from Calgary, Cochrane and Priddis were called to the scene at about 1:10 p.m. where a car and a pickup truck collided.
The Edmonton man driving the car was declared dead at the scene. He was alone in the vehicle, EMS officials said. Police say he made a U-turn in front of the truck, which crashed into the driver's-side door.
Two girls in the truck, believed to be one to four years old, were taken to Alberta Children's Hospital in stable, non life-threatening condition.
Two other children and two adults in the truck were uninjured, officials said.
Cochrane RCMP closed Highway 22 in both directions south of the Trans-Canada as they investigated the cause of the accident.
