A youth is in hospital and three other youths have been arrested following a BB gun shooting in Kamloops.
Kamloops RCMP says the shooting happened off school grounds near Brocklehurst Middle School but none of the people involved are students at the school.
The victim who was shot with a BB gun was taken to Royal Inland Hospital with minor injuries.
According to RCMP, the school was placed in lockdown until they were able to peacefully resolve the incident.
Superintendent of schools for the Kamloops-Thompson school district, Sidow Alison, says police contacted the school's principal around noon and were on scene within 30 seconds.
"Of course any assault with a gun is considered serious, and so we will work in collaboration with the RCMP to ensure that it is dealt with appropriately," said Sidow.
Sidow says parents were being notified through their voice message system that kids are safe and school has resumed.
She says counseling supports are being made available to the school if any children want to debrief.
