8,400 customers still without power in Quebec

Hydro-Québec said most of the remaining power outages are located in the Laurentians and Outaouais regions.

Hydro-Québec workers are still trying to restore power to customers who have been left in the dark since Friday's snowstorm.

According to an update from Hydro-Québec at 2 p.m. ET, nearly 8,400 people were still without power in areas north and west of Montreal.

An update from the company said it expects to restore power to 95 per cent of its customers by late afternoon Tuesday.

Hydro-Québec said it will continue to work on its secondary network throughout the evening in the hopes of being able to restore power to all by Wednesday morning.

More than 800 workers — some of them using snowshoes and snowmobiles — were mobilized through the province on Monday and Tuesday to work on powerlines that are difficult of access.

Heavy snowfall Friday knocked out power to customers in the Laurentians, Lanaudière and the Outaouais regions.

At its peak, the blackout affected more than 110,000 customers in Quebec.
