Housed in a former warehouse, Pastoral’s playful decor brings warmth to an otherwise industrial space. Antique windows dividing the bar from the restaurant catch your eye, and brightly painted chairs pop against the concrete floors. During the summer, the restaurant’s oversized windows and epic garage door open to give you cool breezes from the nearby harbor, further elevating an already lovely experience.

What's the crowd like?

You’ll notice big groups of young professionals pouring in from Fort Point offices and staking claim to the bar. Surprisingly, this rowdy set peacefully coexists with parents and their kids digging into pizza after a visit to the Boston Children’s Museum.

What should we be drinking?

From high-end Italian craft beers to Miller High Life and classic cocktails, Pastoral’s bar has something for everyone (including 20 of those beers and several cocktails on tap). Their Italian wines strike the right balance, too, and pair well with saucy pies.

In a world where artisan pizza is becoming the norm, Pastoral brings something fresh to the table with their ingredient-forward approach. Neapolitan pizzas, handcrafted with classic but creative combinations, are puffed to perfection in a red-tiled oven hauled over from Naples. Back-of-the-house staff makes everything from scratch, even the hand-pulled mozzarella and burrata—and you can tell.

Did we mention they have gluten-free pizza and pasta, too? Food intolerances aside, don’t miss a puccia or wood-fired Italian pocket bread from their lunch menu. The shaved porchetta, roasted asparagus, and smoked buffalo mozzarella lights it up.
