These 10 California counties were the cheapest places to buy a house last month, data shows
From July to August, the median home sales price in California rose from roughly $832,000 to nearly $860,000, according to data collected from the California Association of Realtors.
While the Bay Area remains the most expensive region to buy a house with a median of more than $1 million for a single-family home, some counties have a median below the average, including four in the Central Valley.
Here’s how the association ranked California counties by their median home sales price:
The 10 cheapest counties to buy a house

In the report, the association reported Sacramento County had a median sales price of $535,000. Though Sacramento County was not the cheapest county to buy a house, it wasn’t the most expensive either.

During August, these five California counties had a median homes sales price of more than $1 million:
San Mateo County - $1,950,000
Santa Clara County - $1,852,500
San Francisco County - $1,576,000
Marin County - $1,475,000
Orange County - $1,310,000
