10 dramatic pictures of the destruction caused by U.S tornadoes

More than 100 people have been injured and one person killed as tornadoes tore through Indiana and Ohio.

Dramatic aftermath pictures show homes without roofs, cars on their side and debris scattered across the road.

Forecasters say 55 twisters may have touched down within 24 hours on Monday, while Tuesday offered no respite as a large tornado hit the western edge of Kansas City.

Monday marked a record-tying 11th straight day with at least eight tornadoes in the U.S., said Patrick Marsh, a Storm Prediction Centre meteorologist. The last such stretch was in 1980.
