WINGHAM – Patrick Armstrong and Dave Matheson, arrived in Wingham on May 23 after walking from London in a fundraising event called 100 K in A Day.

The pair are raising money for the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund. The fund donates life-saving defibrillators in the memory of fallen law enforcement, fire, paramedic, and military members. The fund has been donating these important pieces of life-saving equipment since 2009.

To date, the fund has donated 124 defibrillators, three of which have been used to successfully save three lives.

Dave Mounsey was a Provincial Constable with the Ontario Provincial Police killed in the line of duty in 2006. Before his death, Dave and his partner, Brenda, were instrumental in the fundraising for a defibrillator for the Blyth Fire Department, of which Mounsey was also a volunteer member.

A Go-Fund-Me page records over $10,000 raised. An announcement was made that they had raised an additional $4,000 in private donations, along with at least one defibrillator donated to the fund.
