14-year-old youth charged with indecent acts in Whitehorse

RCMP have charged a 14-year-old male with committing two indecent acts in front of women in Whitehorse.

Police say a male followed a 33-year-old woman to her parked car near Fifth Avenue and Hawkins Street over the noon hour on Thursday. After she got in the car, the male approached the driver's side window and began masturbating.

The suspect fled on foot and was arrested near the clay cliffs after a foot chase by police officers.

The second incident happened in March 18 on the Millennium Trail. Police say a woman was walking her dog on the Riverdale portion of the trail between 5 and 6 p.m. when she encountered a male who turned and followed her.

On entering a treed portion of the trail, she turned and noticed the male masturbating. He continued to follow her, pulling down his pants and whistling.

The youth faces two charges of committing an indecent act. He also faces one count of obstructing a police officer in relation to Thursday's incident. He was to appear in Yukon Territorial Court Friday.

His name, or any other identifying information, cannot be published under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
