15-year-old driver charged in fatal Alaska Highway crash

Whitehorse teen sentenced for fatal 2014 car crash

Charges have been laid against a 15-year-old driver in connection with an Alaska Highway collision that killed two young people in Whitehorse last summer.

A compact car collided with a semi-truck at the junction of the Alaska Highway and the Hamilton Boulevard extension, Aug. 9, 2014.

The 15-year-old driver of the compact walked away from the accident with only minor injuries.

A 20-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl were killed. An 18-year-old man was medevaced to Vancouver for treatment.

RCMP have charged the driver with two counts of criminal negligence causing death and one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

The youth will face the charges in Youth Court at a later date.
