15 people displaced after Gatineau apartment fire

Fifteen people have been displaced after fire broke out Saturday at a Gatineau apartment complex.

Firefighters were called to the three-storey complex at 26 Rue le Breton shortly before 3:30 p.m. after someone reported hearing an explosion in the electrical room in the building's basement, Gatineau's fire department said in a media release.

Crews quickly put out the resulting fire, but not before it had spread to the apartment above, the fire department said.

No one was injured in the fire. Three of the 15 people displaced are being helped by the Red Cross, fire officials said.

Damage to the building is estimated at $150,000.
