A 16-year-old girl was killed early Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash on Route 15 near Shemogue

Shediac RCMP said the crash occurred around 5 a.m. The vehicle was heading east and veered off the road, rolling several times.

The 16-year-old from Petit-Cap and a 21-year-old man from Shemogue, the only occupants, were both ejected from the vehicle.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene, and the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Speed may have been a factor in the crash, said the RCMP, who are still investigating.

This was the third fatal crash near Shediac area in the last 10 days.

An 18-year-old woman from Grand-Digue was killed in a head-on crash on Shediac Road on Aug. 5. Later the same day, a 44-year-old woman from Melrose was killed in a head-on crash on Route 15 near Shemogue.
