A 16-year-old girl was shot and killed on Christmas Eve in the 800 block of Barkley Street in Gastonia, shown here in a May 2019 Google Street View image.

A 16-year-old girl was shot and killed in Gastonia around 11 a.m. on Christmas Eve, police said.

The scene in the 800 block of Barkley Street is in an apartment community.

“Detectives and patrol officers are working the scene and investigation,” according to a statement sent by the police spokesperson, Bill McGinty. “No arrests have been made.”

Police asked that anyone with information on the shooting call them at 704-866-6702.
