17 new COVID-19 cases reported in Grey-Bruce today, record for region

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting 17 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, setting a new daily high for the region.

The 17 new COVID-19 cases are located in Kincardine (9), Southgate (5), Grey Highlands (1), Arran-Elderslie (1) and West Grey (1).

The cumulative total number of COVID-19 cases in GBHU is now 244, with 42 confirmed-active cases.

The active cases are currently located in Southgate (8), Grey Highlands (8), West Grey (2), Blue Mountains (1), Hanover (3) and Kincardine (13); Arran Elderslie (3), Huron Kinloss (2), Brockton (1), Northern Bruce Peninsula (1).

Today’s situation report also notes that GBHU has identified 196 high-risk contacts associated with the 42 active cases.

The health unit has indicated there are 10 active probable cases or cases that are linked to an active case but have not yet been lab-confirmed.

The 10 active probable cases are located in Southgate (6), Grey Highlands (2) and Kincardine (2).

Of the 244 cumulative cases, 188 cases have recovered and 14 cases were referred to other health units.

There is currently one person being hospitalized in the region due to COVID-19.

There are no outbreaks in any long-term care facilities, daycares or schools in GBHU. And, GBHU continues to be one of the only health units in Ontario to have no deaths as a result of COVID-19.

The current Public Health Classification Level for the Grey-Bruce region is green or preventative.

Lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in Grey County included - Owen Sound (65); Southgate (29); Grey Highlands (26); Meaford (13); West Grey (13); Blue Mountains (10); Hanover (8); Georgian Bluffs (2); Chatsworth (1). Bruce County has had 77 confirmed cases.
