18-year-old man arrested in killing of 59-year-old man on Halloween, Tacoma police say

A man and his teenage daughter were inside a Tacoma home on Nov. 21 when bullets came through from the outside of the house, police say.

An arrest has been made in a fatal shooting that took place on Halloween in Tacoma.

Police arrested an 18-year-old man on Tuesday for the shooting that killed Ricktor Murphy, 59 of Seattle, near the 5600 block of South Birmingham Street. The man was taken into custody without incident and booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to the Tacoma Police Department.

Officers were dispatched just before midnight Oct. 31 for a reported shooting. Tacoma Fire personnel attempted live-saving measures after Murphy suffered several gunshot wounds. He died from his injuries, the police department said in a news release.
