An 18-year-old Parrish motorcyclist died in a crash with a truck Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. 301 and 116th Ave. E., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

An 18-year-old motorcyclist from Parrish was killed in a crash with a truck Tuesday afternoon in East Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The fatal crash happened around 12:46 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of U.S. 301 and 116th Ave. E., according to a news release.

Troopers say the motorcyclist was riding westbound on U.S. 301 at a “high rate of speed.” As he entered the intersection at 116th Ave. E., a truck hauling a trailer entered his path, FHP said.

Troopers say the motorcyclist collided with the rear left side of the trailer and was thrown from his bike and into the intersection.

Manatee County emergency responders pronounced the Parrish man dead at the scene. FHP has not released his name to the public.

The truck driver, a 28-year-old Missouri man, was uninjured, according to a news release.

FHP says the crash remains under investigation.
