19-year-old Fort Moore soldier dies after jumping off Columbus bridge, coroner ID’s victim

A 19-year-old male soldier stationed at Fort Moore died Monday after jumping off the Dillingham Street Bridge in Columbus and sustaining injuries, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

The soldier has been identified as Cutter Baird.

Bryan said the soldier jumped off the bridge and hit the water. He then got out and collapsed after suffering blunt force trauma to the chest, according to Bryan.
