3 hurt after highrise fire near Bloor and Sherbourne

Three people were taken to hospital after a two-alarm fire at a highrise apartment building near Bloor Street and Sherbourne Street Thursday morning in Toronto.

Firefighters were called to the Bleecker Street highrise at approximately 6:45 a.m. ET to deal with a fire in a fourth floor apartment.

A Toronto Fire Services spokesperson said there was "zero visibility" in the hallway due to smoke when crews arrived on scene.

Three adults were transported to hospital for smoke inhalation, with two in serious but non-life-threatening condition and the other suffering minor injuries.

Approximately 45 firefighters responded to the fire call.

Large fans were used to blow the smoke from the building.

There's no word yet on the cause of the blaze.
