2 Alberta highway crashes leave 1 dead, 7 injured, road closed

Two separate crashes on southern Alberta highway have claimed the life of one person and left seven people injured.

RCMP, EMS and fire crews attended a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle northeast of Calgary Sunday afternoon.

A motorcyclist died near the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 566, south of Beiseker.

Highway 9 was completely closed between Highway 564 and Highway 566 for several hours while a collision analyst investigated.

Another collision between a car and a sports utility vehicle left several people injured east of Sundre.

Police say a car with two people was T-boned by an SUV with five occupants on Highway 27 near Little Red Deer Store & Gas when the car pulled out of the parking lot.

The driver of the SUV was critically injured and airlifted to Calgary. The other four people in the SUV and two car occupants were all sent to area hospitals with unknown injuries.
