2 charged after man seriously injured in beating near Brampton school

Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged two men after another man was beaten and held near a Brampton Catholic school early Tuesday morning.

Police said they were called to Pauline Vanier Catholic Elementary School at 12:42 a.m. when someone called 911 saying that they could hear a male yelling for help.

When officers arrived, they found a man, 44, with serious injuries. Police said the man was beaten in the face.

"Our victim was not allowed to leave the area, he was being held against his will physically," Const. Harinder Sohi, spokesperson for Peel police, said.

A man, 46, and a man, 19, were arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault and forcible confinement.

The pair are in custody and expected at the Brampton courthouse for a bail hearing on Tuesday morning.

The injured man was taken to hospital, and police expect to hear more about his relationship to the two arrested men when they speak to him later in the day.
