2 charged with murder in case of missing Calgary man

Two Calgary men have been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Adam Young.

Young, 35, was last seen leaving his home in the 200 block of 11th Avenue S.E. in Calgary on the evening of Nov. 20, 2017.

According to Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta, Young's "last footprint of life" was at 10:30 p.m. that day.

Police say that during the course of their investigation into Young's disappearance, they determined he was likely the victim of homicide, however his body has not been found.

Rural search

Police say they spent 10 days searching a rural property east of Aldersyde, Alta., in October of this year and subsequently executed search warrants within Calgary.

Schiavetta said the property is owned by associates of the accused.

Police say the arrests were made as a result of those searches.

Accused

Jeffrey Ryan Brady, 34, and Robert Floyd Cudney, 39, have been charged while the investigation continues.

"We're still pursuing the fact that other individuals may be involved or culpable in his murder," said Schiavetta.

The two accused were known to police and to Young, but police are still trying to determine a motive for the possible killing. They're also leaving the door open for an upgrade to the charges.

"There's elements of first-degree murder that we still have to prove," said Schiavetta.
