2 children on vacation drown in separate incidents just days apart in Myrtle Beach area
Two toddlers died in drownings just days apart over the July Fourth weekend in the Myrtle Beach area, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.
On July 5, 3-year-old Emily Hanna was pulled from a pool just before 3 p.m. at a home on Brookstone Drive.
She was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead about 45 minutes later, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard in a press release.
Hanna was staying with family in Myrtle Beach but lived in Hemingway.
On July 7, Lylah Dillon of New Milton, West Virginia, was pulled from the lazy river on Wild Iris Drive in Myrtle Beach. The 2-year-old was taken to the hospital where she died at 5:58 p.m., Willard said in the release. Lylah was on vacation with family.
Autopsies are planned for both children, Willard said.
