2 dead, 1 injured after shooting in northwest Calgary

Calgary police say an investigation is ongoing after a Friday evening shooting left two men dead and one injured.

At approximately 8:40 p.m., police were called to reports of shots fired in the northwest community of Sandstone.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 27-year-old man and a 19-year-old man dead in a vehicle. A male youth, who also had been shot, was transported to hospital, according to a police news release issued Friday.

The third individual is in stable condition, police said.

Police said they believe the shooting was targeted, but have no suspects in custody at this time. Police would not provide any further information.

Mike MacLean lives a few blocks away from the scene but said he drove over after hearing the commotion. When he arrived, he saw police officers with guns.

"They were telling everybody, 'Get in your house!'" MacLean said. "Then they ran up to me and told me to get outta there … you couldn't even count all the emergency vehicles."

MacLean said he has lived in the neighbourhood for 33 years and has never seen anything like this happen.

Police shared photos of a vehicle, a black Infiniti two-door coupe, with a white sticker across the top of the rear window, that they say is believed to have been used by the suspects at the time of the shooting.

Police are also hoping to identify three men seen near the vehicle.

The vehicle was last seen in the area of the 200 block of Sandarac Place N.W., police said.
