2 Dead, 3 Injured in Washington, D.C. Shooting as Police Search for Suspects in Gray SUV
Washington, D.C. police has issued a lookout for three people in a gray SUV that was seen fleeing from the scene of the crime
At least two men were killed and three others were injured in a shooting in a Washington, D.C. neighborhood, according to authorities.
Washington, D.C. Acting Police Chief Pamela A. Smith said in a press conference that on Wednesday night at around 9.50 p.m. officers had responded to the sounds of gunshots near the intersection of 14th Street and Saratoga Avenue, Northeast in the Brentwood area.
She said when the officers arrived on the scene, they immediately found three people with gunshot wounds. Two men were pronounced dead at the scene and another was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Smith said two more men “suffering from gunshot wounds” — which a preliminary investigation determined was likely from the same shooting incident — brought themselves to a nearby hospital. One of them was listed in critical condition, while the other had non-life-threatening injuries.

"Right now we have a lookout for three people in a gray SUV that was seen fleeing the scene," Smith added, before urging members of the public with any information on the incident to come forward to police.
“We know someone out in the community has information about what happened tonight,” she continued.
Smith did not provide any other details on the incident or suspects involved. However, she later responded to a reporter asking whether an exchange of gunfire occurred between the people injured and noted that investigators were still in the “very preliminary stages of the investigation.”

The acting police chief also addressed a query from a reporter about increased crime in the area.
“[You’re] having these crew on crew senseless arguments with firearms being introduced when folks have disputes as opposed to being able to resolve them the way we would typically resolve a dispute,” she said. "What I will say is that our officers were present in this area, as they always are on an ongoing basis."

The shooting comes after a teenage boy was found in the northern part of the city with gunshot wounds on Tuesday, per Fox 5 DC. The outlet reported that the boy had been part of a dispute and was later pronounced dead Another man was found with gunshot wounds and also pronounced dead an hour later in the southern part of the city.
FOX 5 DC also noted that the number of homicides in 2023 has now reached 200,
