2 drivers killed in head-on crash southwest of Calgary

Two drivers were killed when a car and an SUV collided head-on Monday afternoon on a highway southwest of Calgary.

The collision happened on Highway 22 at Range Road 21, about six kilometres south of the Maycroft Bridge, at about 4:50 p.m., RCMP said in a release.

The lone, 34-year-old male occupant of the car from Leduc and the 59-year-old man driving the SUV died at the scene.

After the initial collision, a semi-tractor collided with the car. The driver of that truck was not injured.

An adult female passenger of the SUV was taken to a Calgary hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Both occupants of the SUV were from Creston, B.C.

Foggy weather conditions were reported at the time of the crash.
