2 men injured, 1 in life-threatening condition, in single vehicle crash in Etobicoke

Two men were taken to hospital, including a man in life-threatening condition, after a single vehicle crash in Etobicoke early Saturday.

Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook, spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service, said police received a call about the crash at an underpass on Kipling Avenue at New Toronto Street at about 12:30 a.m.

She said a vehicle travelling southbound on Kipling Avenue struck part of a bridge. It sustained significant damage.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 30s, suffered multiple injuries, including a head injury, according to Toronto paramedics.

Douglas-Cook said the driver had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The only passenger in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

George Eliadis, deputy commander of Toronto Paramedic Services, said both men were taken to hospital.

Part of Kipling Avenue, which was closed following the crash, has been reopened.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash and anyone who may have seen anything is urged to call police at (416) 808-2200.
