2 motorcyclists from Olympia suffer injuries after Tacoma teenager drove the wrong way
A teenage driver hit two motorcyclists early Saturday morning in Tacoma, authorities reported.
First responders transported the two motorcyclists to Tacoma General Hospital. They are both from Olympia. One is 23 years old and the other is 44. Both wore helmets.
The 16-year-old teen was not injured. Authorities booked him into Remann Hall under suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular assault, according to a news release from the Washington State Patrol.
Around 1 a.m. Saturday, the teen drove a car south in both northbound lanes of Interstate 705 at Schuster Parkway. The motorcyclists were traveling north on I-705 in one of the lanes.
The teenager struck the motorcyclists, and the teenager’s car came to rest between both lanes. One motorcyclist came to rest in one lane and the other motorcyclist came to rest in the other lane.
The crash blocked the roadway for three hours and eight minutes, according to the news release.
