2 people shot at Sherway Gardens, 1 taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries

A 50-year-old man has suffered life-threatening injuries after two men shot at him while he was inside a parked car in the Sherway Gardens Plaza parking lot Wednesday evening.

A second man, also in his 50s, was found nearby. Acting Duty Insp. Leah Gilfoy said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Officers say they are unsure if he was hit by a bullet, or by shattered glass.

Police have not released any information about the suspects, except to say that they took off in a black BMW SUV, which investigators later found on fire in Mississauga.

Officers responded to the initial shooting call at 7:30 p.m., but Gilfoy could not say exactly when the SUV was found.

She had no description of the suspects except to say that they wore masks and dark clothing. Gilfoy said they fired at least seven shots at the victims; only one is believed to have struck the man who was rushed to hospital.
